KUANTAN: Mohamad Husaini Mahmur from Negeri Sembilan was crowned champion of the national-level 2024 Al-Quran Recitation Competition here, last night.

Nor Hidayah Abd Rahman was announced as the leading female reciter. Both champions received an RM20,000 cash prize, RM10,000 for performing the haj, a trophy, and a certificate.

The runners-up were Abdul Hadi Che Ab Halim from Terengganu for the men’s category and Nadhrah Ahmad Marzuki from Negeri Sembilan for the women’s category. They each received an RM15,000 cash prize, RM10,000 for performing the haj, a trophy, and a certificate.

Third place in the male category went to Mohamad Syaheed Sabri from Pahang and in the female category to Nor Jannah Ab Rahman from Terengganu, who each received an RM10,000 cash prize, RM10,000 for performing the haj, a trophy, and a certificate.

In the memorisation category, the winner of the men’s event for all 30 ‘juzuk’ (parts of the Quran) was Muhammad Rifae’i Mat Zuki, and Putri Aminah Mohd Hanif for the women’s category, while in the 20 juzuk event, the winners were Muhammad Asyraf Amir from Johor and Fatihatul Badriyah Mohd Abd Latif Hilmi from Selangor.

The 10 juzuk event saw Abdullah Afif Mohd Ariffin from Melaka and Aisyah Nabihah Noor Hisham from Negeri Sembilan emerging as winners.

All winners were announced by the director-general of the Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (JAKIM), Datuk Hakimah Mohd Yusoff, at the Darul Makmur Auditorium, Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah Broadcasting Complex. Negeri Sembilan were declared the overall champions this year.

The closing ceremony of the national-level Al-Quran Recitation and Memorisation Assembly (MTHQK) was officiated by the Tengku Mahkota of Pahang, Tengku Hassanal Ibrahim Alam Shah Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah.

Also present at the ceremony were Pahang Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail and Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs) Datuk Dr Mohd Na’im Mokhtar.

MTHQK 2024, organised by JAKIM in collaboration with the Pahang state government, ran for six days starting May 23, featuring 110 participants from across the country. – BERNAMA
