KUCHING: Sarawak Teachers Union (STU) urged parents and guardians to help monitor students’ home-based learning throughout the closure of schools nationwide.

STU president Macky Joseph said the people should be aware that the battle in combating Covid-19 pandemic is not over yet.

“Safety is the utmost priority and thus, closure of schools is one of the measures taken so that students will stay at home and not be exposed to the spread of the virus.

“However, they are still required to engage with their studies via various platforms for teaching and learning,” he said on Monday (Nov 9).

He also stated that the teachers must execute their plans accordingly so that students can continue to learn at home.

“Alternative assessment needed to be plan carefully. This is the new normal which the teachers and pupils must adapt to,” he said.
