KUCHING: A ‘Fly Me to the Moon’ Mid-Autumn Festival and Market will be held here.
The festival organised by the Kuching South City Council (MBKS) will be held at Palmarium Garden and residence No.6, Jalan Tan Sri Datuk William Tan on Sept 10 and 11 from 10am to 9pm.
“These programme is the first to be held here to promote better understanding on the moon cake festival,” said Mayor Datuk Wee Hong Seng yesterday.
He said at least 50,000 visitors are expected to go to the moon cake festival.
“Through these kind of events, we can share with others about the moon cake which symbolised family reunion.
“So what we want to do is on this moon cake festival we practice bringing people together, especially families and friends,
“The first thing is you must let people understand the tradition and your culture,”he said.
In addition, he said, various activities were also organised including traditional Chinese arts and performances, art, puzzles, creative markets, workshops, lantern parades, family activities, treasure hunt and so on.
