SIBU: Due to the “very unhealthy” haze condition here, the organising committee for this Saturday evening’s annual Mooncake Festival gathering at SJKC Dung Sang basketball Court has decided to postpone the event until further notice.

According to organising secretary Thomas Tiang, the postponement is necessary because schools in the division have all been directed to close from
yesterday until further notice.

Jointly organised by JKKK Jalan Diong Kik, SJKC Dung Sang and Shiuan Daw Methodist Church, the gathering’s patron is Kapitan Lau Kiu Seng.

Lau said the annual event normally attracted 500 to 700 residents along Deshon Road and Oya Road as well as pupils of Dung Sang and the members of Shiuan Daw Methodist Church.

“Postponement is the correct thing to do because it is not healthy to carry out any activity right now,” he added.
