More aid pours in for fire victims

KUCHING: Kuching-based charity organisation Hope Place has also come forward to assist the five families who lost their homes in the Kampung Sungai Bedil fire last Sunday.

They donated basic food aid such as rice, cooking oil, biscuits and malt drink to all five families, involving 22 people.

This was following a request from the public for assistance, said its founder Kelvin Wan.

Penghulu Ghani Abone of Kampung Sungai Bedil received the donation on behalf of the fire victims.

In the fire, which occurred at 3pm, all five houses were turned to ashes.

According to the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba), firefighters from the Petra Jaya, Padungan and Tabuan Jaya fire stations were rushed to the scene but to no avail.
