KUCHING: More businesses in the state will be prohibited from operating during the movement control order (MCO) which runs until June 11.
In the list of premises or retails activities that are not allowed to operate as released by Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC), it said that among that the prohibited businesses include department stores (aside from the food supply chain), optical shops, and home-based eateries.
Other prohibited businesses include merchandise shops at tamu or markets (clothing, handicraft and others); convenience stores (100%, DIY, Supersave and others); licensed money and pawnshops; phone shops (sales, reload, accessories); hair salons; barbershops; beauty centres; car accessories shop; car wash; pest control, fabric shops; furniture stores and laundry shops (including self-service laundry).
Among the businesses that are allowed to operate are shops selling daily necessities; supermarkets and hypermarket shopping malls —this is subjected to premises selling daily goods and food only.
Other businesses and sectors allowed to operate include public markets, wet markets, wholesale markets, farmers markets and pasar tamu that are under the local councils and Federal Agricultural Marketing Authority (Fama); electric and electronic (repair only); packaging and printing (newspaper, poster); health care (maternity care and after childbirth) automotive repair, maintenance and sales (motorcycle or car workshop); pharmaceutical and health and safety equipment; restaurant, eateries, bistro, cafes (dine-in or park and dine are not allowed); animal clinics and pet shops (animal feed); agriculture products (pesticide or fertiliser) as well as shops selling packaging and take-away containers.
