SIMUNJAN: Rural entrepreneurs have been advised to come up with more creative packaging for their agro-based products.
Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister (Motac) Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri made the call in her speech at a Chips Making Programme by the women entrepreneurs at Kampung Sungai Apin’s farm market in Simunjan on Sunday (Sept 13).
She pointed out that creatively packaged products would attract tourists.
“We in Sarawak are blessed with diverse cultures and various types of traditional food. Our agricultural products and food can make niche products. Packaging is also important in online retailing,” said Nancy, who is also Batang Sadong MP.
“The new norms require us to shift from conventional to digital marketing,” she added.
Nancy also urged residents to identify areas around the village that could be developed into tourist attractions.
“We will look into the applications extended to us and will discuss them with the Simunjan assemblyman, Awla Dris.
“I also would like to welcome community leaders in Batang Sadong to make applications to develop tourism infrastructure and send them to my ministry,” she added.
