KUCHING: The Kuching North City Commission (DBKU) has urged the ‘GengSubuhMacamJumaat’ runner group to develop more imaginative running routes to promote a healthy lifestyle among the public.

Deputy Utilities and Telecommunications (Utilities) Minister Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi said the group had previously sketched a running route in the form of a kangaroo along a 14.2km running route using a running application.

In that regard, he said, DBKU suggested to the running group, to create running routes in the form of a cat and a hornbill in the future.

“The DBKU mayor also suggested this group of active runners to draw a cat-shaped running route so that they can use this path to run.

“This route may be a little shorter than the kangaroo, perhaps between six to 10 kilometres,” he told the reporters after attending the Chinese New Year Edition Car Free Morning Program organised by DBKU at Padang Merdeka, here today (Feb 18).

Also present with Abdul Rahman was Kuching North City Commission (DBKU) mayor Hilmy Othman.

He added that DBKU recommended the group to sketch a 21km path spanning the Kuching South City Council (MBKS) area and the Padawan area.

“So this is one of the creativity and innovation of leisure activities in Kuching.

“And we call on the citizens of Kuching if they want to participate in these healthy activities to join them in running, for Muslims, after morning prayers, join them and run with them using the routes mentioned,” he said.
