BETONG: New Civil Defence Force (APM) Betong district officer Captain (PA) Siti Huzaimah Ibrahim pledged to establish more emergency response teams in Betong area.

She said that this plan is in line with the aspiration of the deputy prime minister to establish regiments of APM in every parliamentary constituency.

“What I want is to establish a new training centre at the district level with proposed locations and assistance from the authorities.

I also intend to establish more emergency response teams by opening APM offices in districts, in line with the expectations of the deputy prime minister,” she said after the handing over of duties for the post of APM Betong district officer, yesterday.

At the ceremony, Siti succeeded Lieutenant (PA) Desem Samuel as the new APM Betong officer.

Siti, who is the former APM officer for Sri Aman said that cooperation with federal and state agencies in Betong will improved in line with the force’s role as the disaster management secretariat at divisional level for the benefit of all parties.

“I hope the cooperation given will be further improved to enhance the quality of service to the people.

This is because all government departments and agencies in this district are the backbone of the well-being of the people,” she said.

Desem, who takes over as operations officer of APM Betong, emphasised that many things needed to be improved such as administration, operations and so on.

“Respect the leaders and work together as a team. The spirit of brotherhood, family and working is a motivation that should be continuously practiced by APM Betong.

“Hopefully, with the expertise of senior officers, APM Betong can move forward,” said Desem.

He added that he wants personnel to emulate Siti as one of the remarkable officers in the force.

“She is a woman who can sit down together and perform any tasks like us men do.

“Hence, female personnel from APM Betong and Spaoh should emulate and exert their efforts like her and prove that women can work like men,” he added.
