KUCHING: The Ministry of Tourism, Creative Industries and Performing Arts is aiming for more international, national, and state level programmes to be held in 2023.
Its minister Datuk Seri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah said just like this year, more interesting activities will be held for the public next year.
“Therefore, we very much welcome anyone who wants to organise events in the state and to send an application for their programme proposal so that it can be arranged with our ministry.
“It doesn’t matter if the programme is in the form of entertainment, culture, sports, education and others because the government has provided a large allocation to organise the programmes here,” he said.
He said this when met by the media after the duty handing over of the ministries’ permanent secretaries at Baitulmakmur Building II yesterday.
Furthermore, he pointed out that some of the programmes such as the Rainforest World Music Festival (RWMF) already have its allocation every year.
“Therefore, in the year 2023, there will be programmes similar to that which will be organsied,” he said.
Adding on, he revealed that his ministry was allocated a total of RM40 million to fund and hold the programme throughout 2022.
“Though this year we are unable to entirely use all of our allocation due to the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, we still manage to organise many activities in which some even reached the international level.
“Therefore, I cannot say how much we will get in 2023 but we will have funds for the programmes that will be held,” he said.
