KUCHING: Tasik Biru assemblyman Datuk Harry Henry Jinep is working hard to get more houses in Bau district, comprising Tasik Biru, Serumbu, Opar and Batu Kitang state constituencies to have 24-hour electricity supply.
He said up to April this year there are 2,754 applications for Rural Electrification Scheme (RES) in Bau district and as of November this year 1,170 have been implemented.
“We have a balance of 1,584 applicants to be dealt with for the Bau District and we hope that by 2020 all applications will be implemented,” said Henry.
Henry explained that these are late applicants involving new houses and extended families, and not left out cases.
“The government has allocated some funds for the late applications (Alaf), programme and we are utilising this and we want more houses to be lighted up by end of 2020,” added Henry.
He commended Sarawak Energy, adding that the progress of the implementation in Bau district was quite impressive.
Henry said most of the villages in Bau District are already lighted up but new houses and homes of extended families fall under the category of late applicants.
