KUCHING: Several industries have applied to set up vaccination centres (PPVIN) following two virtual meetings organised by Miri Division Covid-19 Immunisation Task Force (CITF) two weeks ago.

Miri Division Disaster Management Committee (DDMC) minister-in-charge Datuk Lee Kim Shin said to date, five PPVINs have been approved and one awaiting approval.

“Those approved were Emart Riam PPVIN, Miri Port PPVIN, Oil and Gas Lutong PPVIN, Saremas PPVIN, and SOP Lambir PPVIN,” he said.

He pointed out that the establishment of the PPVIN would help to intensify and speed up the vaccination programme in Miri.

“The PPVIN will assist those working in their various industries in getting their vaccinations done close to their workplace, and employers in ensuring that their employees are vaccinated,” he explained.

“Meanwhile, for the shopping complex sector, it will make it easier for the shopping mall tenants to be vaccinated. For instance, Emart PPVIN has specifically been set up to cater to this category.

“CITF is liaising with the five approved PPVINs to request them to make the necessary preparations, projected to start operation by the middle of next week.” said Lee.
