More police stations planned for Sarawak

DEBAK: The Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) Sarawak plans to build four new district police headquarters (IPD) and two new police stations under the Fourth Rolling Plan of the 12th Malaysia Plan (12MP) and 13th Malaysia Plan (13MP).

Sarawak Police Commissioner Datuk Mohd Azman Ahmad Sapri said the force have prepared a comprehensive report which includes its challenges and directions in terms of staffing and logistics, law and order in Sarawak.

He added that the special report includes reports from 10 departments, 28 district police headquarters, 85 police stations and 14 police booths.

“I believe with the report, we have several plans to improve infrastructure and logistics as well as staffing.

“Especially in the Fourth Rolling Plan of the 12th Malaysia Plan, the construction of Matu/Daro police headquarters, IPD Kapit and Oya Police Station have been included.

“While under the 13th Malaysia Plan, proposals for the construction of IPD Julau, IPD Song and Pusa Police Station are also included,” he said.

He said this at a press conference after officiating at the new Debak Police Station on Monday (Nov 6).

Also present were Deputy Minister of Women, Childhood and Community Wellbeing Development Datuk Mohammad Razi Sitam, deputy Commissioner of Police Datuk Mancha Ata, Resident of Betong Division Richard Michael Abunawas and Betong District police chief DSP Zamry Alli.

Azman said the Pusa police station would be built in a different location since the station is currently located at the Pusa District Office alongside the post office.

“The Beladin police station, which has been delayed for three years, is now in the final stages before it begins its operations where a few technical problems need solving which have caused the delay.

“We are optimistic that the police station will be able to operate by December,” he said.

The Debak Police Station, was built at Lot 1532, Block 8, Retih Debak, Rimbas Land District at a cost of RM17,344,943.

The project started on October 5 2016 developed by Syarikat Glorium Sdn. Bhd. took 24 months to complete.
