BAU: Datuk Willie Mongin expects applications for Program Perumahan Rakyat Termiskin (PPRT) (Housing Programme for the Poor and Hardcore Poor) in Puncak Borneo constituency to increase next year.

The Puncak Borneo MP noted that there were more than 30 PPRT and house restoration projects one year ago.

“I do not have any specific details on this but we have the information. For this year, we received three new PPRT applications here from Kampung Tringgus Bong.

“I have visited the homes and the families are in need of help to restore and repair their old homes.

“My service centre has assisted the families to apply through the e-Kasih system where they were registered and hopefully, they will be eligible for PPRT projects,” said Willie.

He hoped that the unity government would work fast to help the people in urgent help to repair their old homes to lessen their burden and for their comfort.

He said this when met by the media at an appreciation ceremony together with the villagers held at Kampung Tringgus yesterday.

In addition, Willie also visited four families in the village.

A villager, who was bedridden due to a chronic disease, received a hospital bed for more comfort.

Willie also visited three families whose homes were in a bad condition and requested him to restore them.

The MP visited St Sylvester’s Catholic Church, Kampung Tringgus to review the facilities and the needs of the church as well as sports facilities for the youth.

“Here in Kampung Tringgus Bong, there are many potential tourism activities. The river here is clean and clear and there is also a fish conservation project here.

“I urge the villagers to harness these activities and turn them into businesses so that the economic status of the villagers can be improved.

“Of course, lots of developments need to be done here and we will strive to bring more development for the people here,” said Willie.
