LAWAS: Widespread development in Limbang and Lawas will continue under the leadership of Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan.
Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg, who assured this, commended Awang Tengah for his hard work and pointed out that the people here were lucky to have him as their local representative.
“If possible, just let him win without contesting (in the state polls),” he said, adding that a bright future awaited the local folks here.
Abang Johari was speaking at a dialogue session at Kampung Punang here on Monday (Sept 28).
On the state polls, Abang Johari said he did not know when it would be held. However, it must take place within five years of the previous election.
He revealed that programmes for the next five years had already been planned by the state government.
“They also include Lawas where some people are looking to invest billions of ringgit on the oil refineries here.
“This is also why we have decided to relocate the current Lawas Airport to a new site. The current site is considered unsafe,” he added.
Elaborating on the Lawas Airport project, Abang Johari recalled that it was previously approved by the Barisan Nasional (BN) government but was cancelled by the following Pakatan Harapan (PH) government.
“Awang Tengah told me that there was no more allocation for the project.
“I told him to go ahead (with the construction) and we (the state government) will fund it for the people of Lawas,” he added.
