SEMATAN: The Rural Transformation Project (RTP) to build new public toilets at Kampung Telok Melano here was undertaken after taking into account the increase in visitors.
“Under the RTP, we have approved a grant totalling RM200,000 for this.
“I hope that the villagers will form a committee to maintain the new toilets and the existing ones,” Tanjong Datu assemblywoman Datuk Amar Jamilah Anu said during a visit to several villages here and in Lundu on Friday (Oct 29).
She added that the areas here—from Telok Melano to Tanjong Datu—were fast becoming popular and frequently visited by locals and city folk, especially during the weekends and public holidays.
“We’re looking into the infrastructure development here,” adding that among the villages involved were Kampung Stunggang Dayak and Kampung Siru Dayak, with RM250,000 allocated to repair roads in the two villages.
“The main purpose is to make life easier for the villagers, for them to transport produce from their farms easily.”
Jamilah also visited Kampung Telok Serabang as well as the construction site of a new mosque worth RM5.5million
