KUCHING: Datuk Hamzah Brahim (GPS – Stakan) has addressed the august House that more schools are needed to welcome the increasing number of students in Stakan.
He said currently, there are seven primary schools in Stakan, with only two secondary schools.
“The number of schools currently are not enough to facilitate the overall number of students residing in residential areas such as Taman Samarindah in Kota Samarahan.
“I propose to the Sarawak Government to build more primary schools and secondary schools as efforts to facilitate the increasing number of students,” he added.
He said this during a debate in support of the Supply Bill (2023) and motion to refer the Resolution of the Development Expenditure Budget for 2023 at the DUN sitting today (Nov 25).
Hamzah also pointed out that the empty lands available in Stakan need to be reserved to welcome future development for facilities beneficial to his constituents.
“The Stakan constituency is only 100 km square which makes it difficult to look for empty lands despite it only needing an acre to build future public facilities,” he stressed.
