More spectacular Tasik Biru Festival next year

BAU: The district’s iconic event, the Tasik Biru Festival, will be held in a big way next year with the completion of the Tasik Biru development project.
Deputy Minister of Transport (Rivers and Seas) Datuk Henry Harry Jinep said this year’s festival, typically held on the banks of the lake, took place at Pub Street Lobuh Bau to accommodate the ongoing development project.
Although the festival was relocated to Lobuh Bau Pub Street, it provided an opportunity for local food and beverage operators to showcase their products.
“We are hosting this event not by the lake but in the town of Bau due to the development of the Tasik Biru Resort City, which will be completed next year. We plan to make the Tasik Biru Festival even more spectacular, with ample parking and a different atmosphere,” he said at the closing of the 2024 Tasik Biru Festival last night.
Also in attendance were Bau District Officer Constantine Gerald David Jonas, Bau District Police Chief DSP Dr. Daram Ruer, and Temenggong Bidayuh Kuching Division Atok Derop.
Henry, who is also the Tasik Biru assemblyman, emphasised that the Tasik Biru development, funded by the private sector, will create job opportunities for the local community, especially for young people.
“We need to encourage investors and the private sector to boost socioeconomic activities and enhance job prospects for our youth,” he said.
The Blue Lake Festival began on Oct 25, featuring a variety of activities over three days. Highlights included a jong exhibition, the Tasik Biru beauty pageant, a chopstick competition, a Bidayuh ethnic gong-beating cultural performance involving the five zones in Bau, arm wrestling, and more.
Visitors were entertained by performances from artistes Mix Louder Band, Ramles Walter, Timothy, Rahmad, February Rain, Claudia Geres, Skyband, and Baby Shima.
