KUCHING: Another 11 state constituencies are expected to enjoy high-speed internet service provided by Telekom Malaysia (TM) Sarawak by the end of the year with more expansion being planned for 2022.
So far, 65 out of 82 state constituencies have been served with high-speed internet service.
Through their 84 nodes statewide, more than 400,000 households are now within TM’s infrastructure reach.
This was disclosed by TM Sarawak during a quarterly update meeting held between Sarawak Multimedia Authority (SMA) and TM Sarawak on Thursday (Nov 18).
The meeting was chaired by SMA general manager Dr Zaidi Razak and attended by TM Sarawak general manager Abdul Rahman Taha as well as officers from both parties.
According to Zaidi, the engagement session with TM Sarawak is a good practice as it provides a platform for the industry player to share on the updates and progress regarding their internet connectivity project throughout Sarawak.
“We value engagement session like this, and it is a good practice that should be replicated by other industry players.
“This is because cooperation and collaboration are pertinent in achieving the shared aspiration of fully digitalising Sarawak,” said Zaidi.
Among the matters discussed during the meeting were how TM Sarawak bridges communities and businesses, quick updates, and upcoming plans as well as its fiberisation agenda in supporting the Jalinan Digital Negara (Jendela) as well as Sarawak Digital Agenda.
