SARIKEI: A van parked in front of a house at Taman Susur Jambu here, caught fire early this morning.
The incident was initially noticed by a neighbour who helped put out the fire with assistance from the public.
A spokesman for the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said firemen from Sarikei station were despatched to the scene after receiving an emergency call around 4.55 am.
By the time the firefighters arrived, the fire had been extinguished by members of the public.
The Bomba team cut off the electricity supply from the battery as a precaution. No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained.
The firefighters completed their operation at 5.49 am.
