MIRI: A devastating fire destroyed a house in Kampung Masjid Tiris, Bekenu, this morning (July 27).
State Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba ) Operations Centre said it received an emergency call pertaining to the incident at 7.41am.
Batu Niah fire station responded swiftly and was immediately deployed to the scene which was 37 kilometres away.
Upon arrival at 8.18am, firefighters found a non-permanent structured house destroyed by the blaze.
Bomba said according to nearby residents, the owner of the house was unable to be located and was not around at the time of the incident.
The team of firefighters were able to extinguish the fire and brought the situation under control at 8.50am.
The operation ended at around 10am, with the cause of the fire still under investigation.
