KUCHING: An early morning blaze devoured a single-storey house and damaged two others at Lorong Sungai Apong Baru, Taman Heng Hua this morning (Nov 5).
The inferno involving three single-storey terrace houses, happened around 4.35am.
Firemen from Tabuan Jaya station were despatched to the scene, about 6km from the station. They were also assisted by Padungan fire station
At the scene, they found that the first house was beyond saving while the second and third house were slightly damaged with 20 and 10 percent damages respectively.
It was reported that one of the five affected tenants had breathing difficulties and he was taken to the hospital for further treatment.
The flames were brought under control and completely extinguished via offensive and defensive techniques.
It was reported that the fire started from a cooking gas cylinder, however, the actual cause and losses incurred is still under investigation.
After ensuring that the situation is deemed safe, the team wrapped up the operation and departed back to their stations.
