LAWAS: Lembaga Amanah Kebajikan Khairat Lawas (LAKHIL) held the slaughtering of sacrificial cows (ibadah korban) at the slaughtering centre of Lawas Darul Ma’mur Mosque here yesterday.
The event was led by chairman of the mosque committee, Othman bin Adol and Ustaz Ali Akhbar Al-Hafiz as the slaughterer who also led in prayers during the slaughtering ceremony.
According to Othman, five buffaloes were slaughtered from the 20 donated by LAKHIL and Deputy Chief Minister, Datuk Amar Haji Awang Tengah Ali Hassan and his family.
“I am very glad today because many people came to help carve, cut, weigh and pack the sacrificial meat at this year’s event.
“This is in line with our leaders’ hope, especially Datuk Amar Awang Tengah and Deputy Minister of Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism, and Lawas MP, Dato’ Henry Sum Agong to always strengthen ties among the various races here,” Othman said.
Also present were LAKHIL committee members, village chiefs from Banting Residential area, Kpg Banting, Kpg Melusok and surrounding villages in this town.
The buffalo meat which had been weighed were later distributed to Muslims in the town and surrounding villages.
