Most fatalities had comorbid diseases

KUCHING: Sarawak today (Sept 15) recorded 12 new Covid-19 deaths which brought the death toll tally to 651.

The Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) said that most of the death cases had a history of comorbid diseases while some were above 60 years old.

“The 640th death case was a 93-year-old man from Sibu who tested positive for Covid-19 on Sept 6.

“The man, who passed away at the Sibu Hospital, had a history of high blood pressure, diabetes and dyslipidaemia.

“The 641st death case was an 81-year-old man from Song who tested positive for Covid-19 on Sept 6.

“He passed away at the Kapit Hospital and had a history of high blood pressure, diabetes, heart disease and chronic kidney disease,” said the committee.

A 47-year-old woman from Bintulu was the 642nd death case. She tested positive for Covid-19 on Sept 10.

The woman, who passed away in the Bintulu Hospital, had a history of high blood pressure, diabetes and final stage chronic kidney disease.

Meanwhile, the 643rd death case involved an 84-year-old woman from Betong who tested positive for the virus on Sept 11.

The woman, who passed away at the Saratok Hospital, had a history of high blood pressure and chronic kidney disease.

“The 644th death case was a 35-year-old woman from Bintulu who tested positive for Covid-19 on Sept 12.

“She passed away and was brought to the Bintulu Hospital. The woman did not have any history of comorbid disease,” said the SDMC.

The committee added that an 86-year-old from Lubok Antu was the 645th death case. She tested positive for the virus on Sept 13.

She was brought to the Sri Aman Hospital and had a history of high blood pressure and diabetes.

The 646th death case was an 89-year-old man, also from Lubok Antu, who tested positive for Covid-19 on Sept 12 and had a history of stroke.

He passed away and was brought to the Sri Aman Hospital.

The 647th case involved a 100-year-old man, also from Lubok Antu, who tested positive for the virus on Sept 13.

“The case passed away and was brought to the Sri Aman Hospital. However, he did not have any history of comorbid disease,” added the SDMC.

Meanwhile, the 648th death case involved an 84-year-old man in Kuching who tested positive for Covid-19 on Sept 13.

The man passed away and was brought to Sarawak General Hospital (SGH). He had a history of high blood pressure, dyslipidaemia and obstructive chronic kidney disease.

 The 649th death case was a 57-year-old man from Kuching who   tested positive for Covid-19 on Sept 13.

The man passed away and was brought to the SGH. He did not have any known history of comorbid disease.

The 650th death case involved an 85-year-old woman from Sri Aman who tested positive for the virus on Sept 13.

“She passed away and was brought to the Sri Aman Hospital. She had a history of high blood pressure.

The 651st death case involved a 59-year-old woman from Miri who tested for Covid-19 on Sept 14.

The woman, who passed away at the Miri Hospital, had a history of high blood pressure, diabetes and dyslipidaemia.
