KUCHING: Most areas in Puncak Borneo near here have been upgraded with 4G (fourth-generation wireless), provided by Digi, Celcom and Maxis, says federal Deputy Plantation Industries and Commodities Minister Datuk Willie Mongin.
The Puncak Borneo MP said 27 additional telecommunication towers were approved last year through the National Digital Network Project (Jendela).
“The project has been tendered and will be implemented in the near future,” he said on Monday (May 3).
Apart from that, 16 towers are being built under the Sarawak Multimedia Authority (SMA).
“Some of these towers have been completed and are waiting for telecommunication companies to install the equipment.”
In Jalan Puncak Borneo, he said, he had applied for the Unifi broadband network from Telekom Malaysia.
He added that the service was ready to be subscribed by residents around Mile 14 to Mile 17 (Pulapol, Puncak Borneo Commercial Centre, Kampung Bratan Asah, Kampung Bratan, Puncak Borneo Parliamentary Service Centre Office and SK St George Punau).
Meanwhile, Willie said the Unifi cable was still in the installation process, from Batu 17, Jalan Puncak Borneo to Kampung Annah Rais.
