KUCHING: Being poor and hardly having enough food to eat is already bad enough.
As if there is no end to living in misery, yesterday the very house they have been sheltering in all the years came tumbling down.
Now the Semariang Batu family of four is homeless, and the only saving grace in the incident is no one was seriously injured.
Head of the family, a mother, 69, and her son, 19, made it to safety seconds before the house collapsed at about 8.45am.
Both mother and son received help from members of the Malaysia Civil Defence Force before they were sent to Sarawak General Hospital for observation.
It is believed the house collapsed due to decaying structures and woodworks.
The family, clearly very uncertain about the future, is now putting up with relatives.
