BAU: A ride home turned fatal after a mother and her son died in a motorcycle crash at KM24, Jalan Bau-Stass last Monday (Apr 25).
The accident happened around 1pm when both victims were believed to be heading back to their home in Kampung Stass, here on a motorcycle.
Sarawak Traffic Police chief Supt Bingkok John, who confirmed the case, said their motorcycle had skidded and crashed into some plants by the roadside.
“This resulted in the rider (son) being thrown into the grassy area while, the pillion rider (his mother) landed in a concrete drain.
“Both victims, namely the mother identified as Juni Nyayoh, 62, and her son Kendy Peters, 29, suffered severe injuries and were pronounced dead by paramedics at the scene,” he said.
Their remains were taken to Bau Hospital for post-mortem.
Bingkok pointed out that the case is being investigated under Section 41 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
