SIBU: The GP Sibu Jaya Extreme Motocross Challenge is gaining international recognition, said Sibu Rural District Council (SRDC) chairman Sempurai Petrus Ngelai.
“This year, we’ve attracted participants from Peninsular Malaysia, Sabah, and even internationally, including Thailand, Indonesia, and Brunei Darussalam,” he said during the event’s opening ceremony at the Sibu Jaya motocross circuit yesterday.
He said that with careful planning and promotion, motocross can become a valuable tourism product for Sibu.
“I believe it can position Sibu as a competitive sports hub,” he added.
He expressed gratitude to Amcorp Sibu Jaya Sdn Bhd and the GP Sibu Jaya Extreme Motorsport Association for organising the two-day event (November 16-17).
Deputy Speaker of the Dewan Rakyat Alice Lau Kiong Yieng was also present.
