SIMUNJAN: A 50 year old motorcyclist died after he collided with a lorry while riding from Kampung Ruan Jaya to Simunjan town, ferrying two young daughters, aged 13 and eight.
The trio was riding along the road at 9am when they arrived at a junction.
A lorry moved into their path and father failed to avoid it, hitting the left side of the lorry. Ruka anak Gena and the two young girls were flung off the motorcyle. Ruka was rushed to Simunjan Clinic by a medical officer who was passing by the area.
However, he died on the way while his two daughters sustained minor injuries. The lorry driver from Kampung Sageng escaped unhurt.
Sarawak Head of Traffic Investigation and Enforcement, Supt. Alexson Naga Chabu confirmed the case and said it is being investigated under Section 41 (1) of the Road Traffic Act 1987.
