KUCHING: A 52-year-old man who was a pillion rider died on the spot after the motorcycle he was on collided with a car.
Sarawak Head of Traffic and Enforcement, Supt Alexson Chabu said the car driver, aged 26, from Petra Jaya was driving from Kota Samarahan at about 9.30 am yesterday heading to Kuching while it collided with a motorcyclist head on.
The motorcyclist, surnamed Lai, aged 55, from Asajaya sustained serious injuries while the pillion rider Drus bin Anis aged 52 from Uni Garden succumbed to his injuries and died on the spot.
The motorcyclist was heading towards Samarahan and was coming from the opposite side of the road when the accident occured at KM 11, Samarahan-Kuching Road.
Lai was send to the Heart Specialist Hospital nearby. The car was damaged at the front and the motorcycle at the right side.
The case is being investigated under Section 41 (1) of the Road
Traffic Act 1987.
