KUCHING: Police arrested a man for stealing a motorcycle at Taman Palma Indah, Mile 8th Jalan Matang here on Friday.
Padawan district police chief Supt Aidil Bolhassan said the 22-year-old suspect was apprehended while riding the bike at the residential area.
Aidil said a friend of the bike’s owner recognised the machine being ridden by the suspect and quickly gave chase. He was later handed over to police.
Aidil said the suspect had no personal documents with him and claimed that he lost his identity card.
“Further investigation revealed that the suspect admitted to stealing the motorcycle that was parked within a house compound.
“The owner was taking a shower during the incident while his sister was in her room,” he said in statement yesterday.
The suspect has been remanded for four days till July 3 to facilitate investigation under Section 379A of the Penal Code.
