MIRI: A motorcyclist died of severe injuries after his bike crashed with a Perodua Viva car on Friday night.
The incident occurred at the Tukau junction, KM18 Miri Coastal Road around 8.30pm.
According to Sarawak Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department chief Supt Alexson Naga Chabu, the Perodua Viva was travelling to Miri from Bekenu while the motorcyclist was coming from the opposite direction.
“The rider was coming from the opposite direction before it went out of control and veered into the car’s lane before crashing into it,” he said.
It is believed that prior to the incident, the motorcyclist was hit by an unknown vehicle.
“Efforts to locate the vehicle are underway,” said Alexson.
The case is being investigated under Section 41 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
