KUCHING: An auxiliary policeman suffered injuries after he was rammed by a motorcyclist who was attempting to flee an enhanced movement control order (EMCO) area at Kampung Tabuan Melayu on Monday (July 26).

District police chief ACP Ahsmon Bajah said the 21-year-old motorcyclist refused to stop for inspection when instructed and tried to escape by crashing into the policeman.

“The policeman suffered a fractured left wrist and injuries to the waist and left leg.

“Other personnel on site managed to arrest the motorcyclist. He also tested positive for methamphetamine.”

ACP Ahsmon said a compound was issued to the man for committing an offence under Regulation 17 (1) of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Disease (2021), which is leaving an EMCO area without police permission.

The man will be remanded for four days to facilitate investigations under Section 353 of the Penal Code (Act 574) for committing violence and inflicting injury on a personnel on duty; Section 43 of the Road Transport Act 1987; and Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
