SIBU: A 36-year-old motorcyclist involved in a collision at Jalan Ding Lik Long on Mar 2,  succumbed to his injuries while receiving treatment in Sibu Hospital on Monday (March 8).

District police chief ACP Stanley Jonathan Ringgit said the victim had been identified as Mohd Machie Aini from Rh Linggie, Lubok Bukut in Balingian.

“We received a police report from the victim’s next of kin on his death on Monday morning.

“The victim was pronounced dead while receiving treatment in the hospital at 8.18am that day,” he said.

The accident on March 8 happened around 3pm when the victim was riding his motorcycle  towards Sungai Merah. His bike collided with a four-wheel-drive (4WD) vehicle.  

As a result of the collision, he was rushed to the hospital after sustaining severe injuries while the 4WD driver was unharmed.

Stanley said the case was being investigated under Section 41 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
