KOTA SAMARAHAN: A septuagenarian died after the car he was traveling in skidded and crashed into a ditch on the Kuching-Samarahan Expressway near the Industrial Training Institute (ILP) roundabout here yesterday.
Kota Samarahan police chief DSP Brodie Brangka said the incident occurred around 1.50 pm.
“The accident happened when a 72-year-old man was driving a Perodua Myvi with a 77-year-old man as a passenger, moving from Kota Samarahan towards Kuching.
“It is believed that the driver lost control while navigating the roundabout, causing the car to skid to the left shoulder of the road and then fell into the roadside ditch,” he said in a statement.
As a result of the accident, the passenger sustained severe injuries and was pronounced dead by paramedics.
The male driver suffered injuries and was transported to Sarawak General Hospital for further treatment.
