SERIAN: A 60-year-old man succumbed to severe head injuries after his pickup truck crashed along KM16, Jalan Serian-Kuching on Sunday afternoon (Nov 7).
The incident happened around 12.10pm when the victim, Lee Liew Pin, was driving alone towards Kuching from Serian.
Sarawak Traffic Police chief Supt Alexson Naga Chabu, who confirmed the case, said the truck is believed to have gone out of control and skidded to the left side of the road.
“The truck then crashed into a road safety barrier, overturned several times and barely missed crashing into a house by the roadside.
“The victim was extricated from the truck by passers-by and rushed to Serian Hospital for immediate treatment,” he said.
However, at around 5.50pm, medical staff pronounced that the victim died while receiving treatment at the emergency ward.
Alexson said the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
