KUCHING: A woman succumbed to her injuries after the car she was driving collided with a multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) at Jalan Batu Kawa-Bau, here on Tuesday (Aug 31).
Sarawak Traffic Investigation and Enforcement chief Supt Alexson Naga Chabu said the victim was identified as Lee Suk Phin, 33, from Jalan Sungai Moyan, Batu Kawa.
“The victim is believed to be on her way home during the 10.30pm incident.
“She was driving towards Bau when her car was suddenly rear-ended by an MPV vehicle.
“As a result of the collision, the victim suffered serious injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene,” he said in a statement today (Sept 1).
Alexson said the victim’s body was taken to the Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) Forensic Department.
He added that the driver of the MPV was not injured in the accident.
“Further investigation into the case is still underway under Section 41 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
“The police will also be taking blood samples from the MPV driver,” he said.
