SMARTPHONE users with action-packed lives will no doubt be intrigued by Motorola’s latest One Action, which features an “action camera” that will capture them on the go — and in horizontal format. The device, selling for about US$290, has an image-stabilising wide-angle video camera with a 117-degree shooting angle. You can also film in the easier-tosee landscape format while still holding the phone upright.
However, the One Action is still a phone — it’s dust and water resistant, but it’s not as robust as a real camera. Technically, the One Action is a slightly reduced version of the Motorola One Vision, with a somewhat lower resolution camera and plastic instead of glass on the back. The main camera features a resolution of 12 megapixels, and for depth effect, there’s another lens with a 5-megapixel sensor.
Artificial intelligence takes care of the image and settings optimisers. There’s 128 gigabytes available for apps, photos and music. Motorola is hoping to attract younger, as well as female, customers with its Motorola One line. The phones are designed with mostly borderless displays in a 21:9 format, front-facing cameras that are integrated into the display, and eye-catching colours to choose from. – dpa
