SANDAKAN: The Malaysia Agriculture, Horticulture and Agrotourism Exhibition (MAHA) tour, held for the first time in Sabah starting yesterday, is hoped to attract more visitors from the state to MAHA 2024.

MAHA secretariat chief Zurihanmi Zakaria said the Road to MAHA@Sabah tour began in Kota Kinabalu, then to Kota Belud, Kundasang, Telupid, and concluded in Sandakan yesterday.

“We hope the number of visitors from Sabah attending MAHA at MAEPS (Malaysia Agro Exposition Park Serdang) in September will increase compared to last year.

“I am confident that the number of visitors from Sabah will increase by 20 to 40 per cent compared to last year,” he told reporters here.

Zurihanmi also mentioned that the Road to MAHA programme in Sabah achieved its goals and objectives based on the reception from residents at each pit stop of the tour, especially in Sandakan.

Earlier, during a meeting with Sandakan community, Agriculture and Food Security Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu handed over a mock cheque for the farmer entrepreneurship empowerment programme (Rise Up 2024) worth RM1.41 million involving 27 entrepreneurs.
