MIRI: The Sarawak government has initiated the planning and development of the Sarawak Bio-Industry Park (SBP) in Samarahan to develop and commercialise the state’s bio-industry businesses.
Sarawak Transport Minister Datuk Seri Lee Kim Shin said the government welcomes investments in the bio-industry, particularly in bioactives, biohealth, biomaterials, bioenergy, and bioenvironment.
“SBP will provide dedicated industrial lots to support new companies looking to establish or expand their existing operations in biomanufacturing, scientific, research and development, and high-tech businesses.
“SBP is seeking investments from companies with advanced technologies to support young ventures and rapidly growing companies in their next stage of growth,” he said.
He was sharing session on traditional Chinese and modern medicine at Curtin University Miri yesterday (May 30).
Lee, who is also Senadin assemblyman added that the SBP, which covers an area of 100 acres, will be developed in four phases until 2035.
He said the first phase, comprising 25 acres for the Central Hub and five industrial plots, is expected to be completed by 2026.
Also present were president of the Fudan Institute of Integrative Medicine Professor Dong Jincheng and Pro Vice-Chancellor and President of Curtin University Miri Professor Simon Leunig.
