KUCHING: Santubong MP Datuk Seri Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar is confident Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg will approve and realise the implementation of all projects for the benefit of Sarawakians.
He stated this when asked about the forthcoming state budget which would be announced by Abang Johari soon.
“The people has been asking whether the projects announced by Abang Johari will take place and I believe he will stick to his promises and ensure the projects will be implemented accordingly to make the dreams come true,” he added.
Wan Junaidi was speaking to reporters during a visit to victims of a recent fire at Kpg Sejingkat, Jalan Bako here yesterday.
The MP added that youth development especially in the agricultural sector should be given further attention to move Sarawak forward as a food-producing hub.
“I hope Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas will implement modern agriculture by bringing in as many youths as possible into his programmes.
“This is because the youths would be the next generation to drive Sarawak towards that goal. Thus, we should invite them to be involved in realising the goal.
“Modernisation in agriculture may become an alternative career path for youths apart from focusing on working for the private company or the government,” he said.
On digital economy, Wan Junaidi pointed out that it involved more than the use of Information Communication Technology (ICT) in the development of the state towards a cashless society.
Instead, the digital economy should inspire the people to tap into new resources such as robotics, Artificial Intelligence (AI) and machine intelligence.
“This is also timely as other countries are already tapping into advanced technologies such as interactive machineries and robots. Thus, we should not let ourselves be left behind,” he said.
He added that the people of Sarawak could not rely only on natural resources such as oil and gas which might not last forever.
Wan Junaidi continued, “We need to look into the high technology industry which is already happening in developed countries such as America, China and Japan.
“The state administration is already on the right path and what’s left is the involvement of youths and potential industry players to support the state’s initiatives.”
