MUKAH: Seventeen longhouses recently received grants from incumbent Mukah Member of Parliament, Tan Sri Dr Muhammad Leo Toyad.
The grants were presented at the programme called Sejulai Sejalai organised by the Information Department in collaboration with Mukah Parliamentary Constituency.
On hand to hand over the grants was the Political Secretary to the Chief Minister, Haji Kenil Haji Jaraiee, who represented Dr Toyad at the event which was staged at a longhouse at Nanga Sikat, near here.
Also present at the function were Dalat/Mukah District Council (MDDM) Deputy Walikota, Mawar Ak Awang, Mukah District Information Officer, Muhammad Alwi and staff from the local Community Development Department (Kemas).
In his speech, Kenil urged the people to stand firmly behind the state leadership of Datuk Patingggi Abang Johari Tun Openg.
“I would like to take this opportunity to advise the people to support the development programme being undertaken by the government which is meant for the prosperity of the state and its people,” he said.
“Moreover, the Chief Minister had promised to give special focus on development in the rural areas of Sarawak,” he added.
