MIRI: In a move aimed at bolstering technological resources within the healthcare sector, local Member of Parliament Chiew Choon Man donated 20 laptops to the hospital here.

He said this contribution was part of an ongoing initiative to enhance the efficiency and speed of healthcare services in the region.

“These laptops will aid hospital staff in streamlining daily operations, especially in areas such as data management and patient records.

“By incorporating technology, we hope to ease the workload on healthcare professionals, improve work processes, and enhance data accuracy,” he added.

The simple handing over ceremony was held on Friday at the new Miri Hospital building at Jalan Cahaya.

During his visit, Chiew also met with the hospital’s director Dr Jack Wong and key staff to discuss additional needs and priorities.

Among these was a call for expanded mechanical equipment and the development of specialised services at Miri Hospital, particularly in cardiology.

He indicated that these concerns would be raised during the upcoming 2025 Budget debate to secure necessary funding for the hospital’s development and specialised service expansion.

Chiew reaffirmed his commitment to supporting the local healthcare sector.

“As an elected representative, I am dedicated to ensuring that Miri residents have access to modern and effective healthcare.

“Our efforts are focused on creating a healthier, more prosperous community that benefits from accessible and up-to-date health services,” he said.

This donation is part of a broader effort to meet the evolving needs of the Miri community and to support the ongoing modernisation of public health facilities across Malaysia.
