SIBU: Sibu MP Oscar Ling applauds authorities for their effort in elevating the frequently flooded Jalan Tanjung Ensurai.
Ling said the water level reached up to three feet deep, making it impassable to small vehicles.
“I saw that part of the road has been elevated and paved with gravel. Thanks to the authorities for listening to the voice of the people,” he said in his Facebook post yesterday (March 22).
Ling also said previously his service centre team had taken the initiative to place warning signs along the road.
“Acting on complaints from residents, my team rushed to the location to stick six-foot-long wooden sticks and tie red and white warning signs on both sides of the road along the flooded part to make it safer for the public,” he said.
He added that the team had poked dozens of sticks and tied about 40 metres of red and white ribbons, in the hope that people would be more careful when using the road.
“I hope that the concern of the authorities is not limited to that. They ought to do a better upgrade of the road. I will also try to get allocations for that purpose,” he said.
