BEKENU: Five Borneo Evangelical Mission (BEM) churches here have received grants of RM15,000 each respectively.
The church leaders thanked the government for the grants.
Sibuti Member of Parliament Lukanisman Awang Sauni presented the grants during the churches’ Family Day at Peliau Beach, Bekenu, recently.
“This is my contribution to the five churches in Niah as promised during my Christmas Day visit last year,” he said.
Meanwhile, one of the BEM church leaders said he was grateful to the MP who had fulfilled his promise.
“Lukanisman is a leader who is very concerned about the needs of the churches in Niah.
“And he has never refused to attend any programme that we organised,” he added.
The Family Day, organised by the five BEM churches, was attended by 200 members.
Various sport activities were held to foster closer ties among the members. – UKAS
