MUKAH: The Deputy Minister of Economy and Mukah MP Datuk Hanifah Hajar Taib made a visit to the Mukah Fire and Rescue Station yesterday.

In her visit, Hanifah engaged in a detailed briefing session led by the Sibu Zone 4 chief, Andy Alie.

Following the session, she proposed several enhancements to the fire department, drawing from the insights gained. Key among these was the recommendation for the adoption of drone technology to bolster search and rescue (SAR) efforts, particularly in remote or inaccessible areas.

Additionally, she emphasised the need for increased availability of water pumping machinery to aid in firefighting efforts, with a focus on rural localities and longhouses.

Hanifah also took the opportunity to tour the facility, evaluating the station’s infrastructure and firefighting equipment firsthand.

Concluding her visit, she took part in the preparation of savoury porridge as a gesture of solidarity, prior its distribution at Menara Tinjau and Bazar Ramadan Mukah.
