KUCHING: The Scout Association of Malaysia Sarawak branch received a RM20,000 donation from the Bandar Kuching Parliamentary Service Centre for the repairs and reconstruction of its fire-damaged headquarters at Jalan Batu Lintang.
Bandar Kuching MP Kelvin Yii said the headquarters sustained severe damage from fire on February 6, lamenting the loss but expressing relief that there were no casualties.
“The morning blaze ravaged 80 per cent of the top floor of the two-storey building.
“We hope this contribution significantly supports the team led by Captain Zainuddin Tan Sri Datuk Amar Hamdan Sirat, the Sarawak Chief Scout Commissioner and their ongoing endeavours, including the rebuilding process,” he said recently.
Furthermore, Yii reaffirmed his unwavering support for the scouts’ activities, recognising their role in fostering youth development.
“The scouts offer a valuable platform for the growth of personal and leadership skills, social interaction, and community involvement,” he remarked.
