KUCHING: Parents are reminded to always prioritise their children’s education as it is one of the most powerful assets to change the living standard of their families.

“A family’s poverty can be overcome when the children have quality education,” said Lubok Antu Member of Parliament (MP) Jugah Muyang at a Merarau Pre-Gawai event at SK Ridan in Lubok Antu, yesterday.

Besides that, he said, teachers ought to be praised as they are prepared to deal with various challenges to ensure that their
students are adequately
educated.

He added in order to realise the country’s education vision, one of the mechanisms that can be implemented is to bridge the gap between schools and parents through the parent-teacher associations (PTA).

“The role of parents, teachers and local communities should
be strong as they can create
mutual understanding and sharing for the common good,” he said.

At the event, the Lubok Antu MP allocated RM20,000 each for improving SK Ridan’s dining hall as well as purchase wardrobes for boarding pupils.
