SAMARAHAN: It was truly a happy day for Kota Samarahan as two important things happened on Monday (June 27), said Datuk Peter Minos.
The Kota Samarahan Municipal Council (MPKS) chairman explained that the two things were Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas being appointed as Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (Unimas) pro-chancellor; and Uggah’s announcement that the stalled traffic lights project at the five roundabouts here would resume on July 1.
“Both MPKS and Samarahan folk are happy. The daily traffic jams will be over soon for most of us.
“And we are also happy that Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah was appointed as Unimas pro-chancellor.”
“Of course, happy days will surely come to our city as many projects and activities come up such as the ART and Samarahan Boulevard.
“I am truly thankful and privileged to be the chairman of MPKS. And I never take the blessings for granted,” he added.
