MPP approves RM13.3 mln for 41 projects

KUCHING: RM46 million were allocated to more than 240 projects in Padawan Municipal Council (MPP) area last year and this year MPP has approved the provision of RM13.3 million for 41 projects.

“I am very happy to say that we are moving ahead again. We now have approved the provision of RM13.3 million for 41 projects which have been approved and being implemented,” said Chairman of MPP, Ir Lo Khere Chiang to reporters after MPP full council meeting here yesterday.

Lo, who is also Batu Kitang State Assemblyman added that the council has been reaching its key performance indicator (KPI) by delivering projects to the people.

He also revealed that MPP has received a letter from the Chief Minister commending the council for its street lighting project under phase 1 which has been done and urging the council to continue with the project along Jalan Landeh up to Kampung Betong.

The names of the villages along 4KM include Kampung Paya Mebi, Kampung Sebuak, Kampung Datuk Landeh and Kampung Betong.

“I would like to personally thank the Chief Minister for his concern and for looking after Batu Kitang constituency,” said Lo.

He disclosed that the council has instructed SESCO to carry out the project as soon as possible.

Meanwhile, Lo informed that the flood mitigation project for Jalan Burung Lilin and Jalan Dogan costing about RM3 million would continue this year.

He added that there was another flood mitigation project costing RM3.43 million along Jalan Datuk Tawi Sli which would be implemented by JKR (Jabatan Kerja Raya).

“I would like to inform the Batu Kitang residents that these projects have been planned and will  materialise this year,” emphasised Lo.
